Passed Senate

Lawmakers passed this legislation as part of the fiscal cliff negotiations. Among its Medicare provisions, it freezes Medicare physician pay rates for 2013 (preventing for one year the 26.5 percent cut required by the controversial Sustainable Growth Rate). Medicare Advantage plans, hospitals and dialysis centers will see significant pay cuts under this legislation.
