The Clinician & Group Surveys (CG-CAHPS) assess patients' (adults and children) experiences with health care providers and with staff in doctors' offices. The results from the survey are used to help improve the care given by individual providers, sites of care, and medical groups or provider networks. The results also give consumers information that can help them choose from among physicians and health care providers.
There are multiple versions of the surveys, but all of them address patient experiences regarding timeliness of appointments, doctors' communication skills, helpfulness of office staff, and ask for ratings of the provider or doctor. Surveys for children include questions on the provider's or doctor's attention to the child's growth and development and advice offered on keeping the child safe and healthy.
The surveys can be downloaded from the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality website. (See "Surveys and Guidance" below.)
