If the US wants to avoid a bleak future where health care costs outstrip the GDP, it will have to seriously consider alternative delivery systems, says the founder of a New York-based investment firm. Switzerland, Britain and Singapore offer examples of cheaper, more effective systems.

False Balance and the Medicare Scare

Last Thursday the president made a campaign stop in Florida, and—surprise, surprise—he talked about Medicare. Or at least he talked a little bit about Medicare. And in in the name of political balance, the press screwed it up—a lot.

Ryan Wouldn’t Be a Safe Choice for Romney

Mitt Romney would risk angering seniors if he chose Rep. Paul Ryan as his running mate because of Ryan’s plans to cut future Medicare benefits, according the NPR’s Andrea Seabrook. Although Ryan could help garner support from the GOP, he would overall be a high-risk choice.
