The following statement came from AcademyHealth regarding a bill in the House Labor-HHS-Education Appropriations Subcommittee that would terminate funding for the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) beginning October 1, 2012. AcademyHealth said the bill is "a devastating attack on health services research funding."

Radiation Therapy Alliance Warn of Dire Implications of Government-Proposed $300 Million Funding Cut to Vital Radiation Therapy; Cuts to Put Jobs, Access, Patients at Risk

The Radiation Therapy Alliance, a nonprofit group representing 207 community-based cancer care facilities, says the proposed 2013 reimbursement rule by the CMS is based on faulty data. The group says cuts to cancer care services will impact the availability of cancer therapies nationwide.

NAPH Deeply Concerned by Decisions to Reject Medicaid Expansion

The National Association of Public Hospitals and Health Systems expressed concern over states’ decision to reject the Medicaid expansion plan in the Affordable Care Act. About 13.8 million people eligible for Medicaid could go uninsured if states decide against expansion, said NAPH CEO Bruce Siegel.
